Campaign

Against capitalist propaganda directed on socialism

Capitalists and imperialists are also using wrong propaganda as tool for countering communism. “Black Book of Communism” authors are doing propaganda that communism killed 100 millions of people. They are also trying to defend Nazis by arguing that Nazis killed only 25 millions of people. In fact, Nazis killed 50 millions of people during World War II and around 27 millions of those victims were Russians. Propaganda done by “Black Book of Communism” authors is much worse than holocaust denial propaganda. If they convince people that communists killed a lot more people than capitalists and Nazis, they can say that capitalists and Nazis are much better than communists to make capitalism and Nazism as acceptable ideologies. Attempt to revive fascism for anti-communist campaign is very horrible idea. George Bush also upheld the pro-Nazi propaganda that communism killed 100 millions of people.

“Black Book of Communism” authors slandered that Russian communists killed 20 millions of people and Chinese communists killed 65 millions of people. They want to color Stalin and Mao as worst totalitarian dictators of the past century. They also repeated the propaganda about Ukrainian famine that never happened. Propaganda of Ukrainian famine was directed by Hitler and Ukrainian Nazis who collaborated with Hitler during World War II. Many Ukrainian right-wingers joined Nazi troops against Stalin during World War II. After victory of Stalin in World War II, Ukrainian Nazi soldiers and sympathisers deserted Ukraine. Right-wingers who deserted Ukraine before and after World War II collaborated with with ruling classes of America, Britain and other imperialist countries for anti-Stalin propaganda. Now also the same Nazi propaganda is being repeated by imperialists by changing numbers. Similar propaganda is also being directed against Mao and Ho Chi Minh. Like former Russians like Alexander Solzhenitsyn and Ukrainian former Nazi collaborators, former Chinese and former Vietnamese expatriates also collaborated with American, British and other imperialists for propaganda against Mao and Ho Chi Minh.

Freedom in socialist society

In capitalist society, providing it develops under the most favourable conditions, we have a more or less complete democracy in the democratic republic. But this democracy is always hemmed in by the narrow limits set by capitalist exploitation, and consequently always remains, in effect, a democracy for the minority, only for the propertied classes, only for the rich. Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in the ancient Greek republics: freedom for the slave-owners. Owing to the conditions of capitalist exploitation, the modern wage slaves are so crushed by want and poverty that “they cannot be bothered with democracy”, “cannot be bothered with politics”; in the ordinary, peaceful course of events, the majority of the population is debarred from participation in public and political life.

Democracy for an insignificant minority, democracy for the rich - that is the democracy of capitalist society. If we look more closely into the machinery of capitalist democracy, we see everywhere, in the “petty” - supposedly petty - details of the suffrage (residential qualifications, exclusion of women, etc.), in the technique of the representative institutions, in the actual obstacles to the right of assembly (public buildings are not for “paupers”!), in the purely capitalist organization of the daily press, etc., etc., - we see restriction after restriction upon democracy. These restrictions, exceptions, exclusions, obstacles for the poor seem slight, especially in the eyes of one who has never known want himself and has never been inclose contact with the oppressed classes in their mass life (and nine out of 10, if not 99 out of 100, bourgeois publicists and politicians come under this category); but in their sum total these restrictions exclude and squeeze out the poor from politics, from active participation in democracy.
